Who we are and what we do?We help policy makers make informed decisions with regard to energy and mobility in a world with an uncertain future. Independently and creatively we work to better our world by making sustainable energy and transport both available and affordable. Our contribution consists of energy research & strategy, transport policy and advice. Our fields of expertise are physics, environmental sciences and economics.

What do we work with?We specialise in energy systems and transport — from primary energy sources to end-use in vehicles and ships. You can count on us to keep a system perspective combining a strong theoretical understanding and modelling capability with everyday reality.
Where do we work?We cannot save the world from behind our desks, therefore we travel far and wide to obtain first hand real-life experience.
Why do we get up in the morning?Saving the world through knowledge. To what end? Happiness. We see our transport and energy systems merely as means to meet human needs. We have identified these needs in order of priority as availability, reliability & safety, affordability, social acceptability, cleanness and sustainability.
TimescaleOur statement: travel time is more important than distance. Therefore we have created a travel time map for car and public transport.

An online tool for heat networksOur Network Planner generates network plans from heat sources down to individual connections — scaling from thousands up to 1 to 2 million. Decentralized and central sources, small and large-scale, combined in one planning. It complements existing tools by handling large planning areas and delivering integrated schedules.
